Permits and guides
You need a forest permit and an armed forest guard for every trip. Tour operators arrange both — independent travel inside the forest isn't allowed.
Best season
November to February has calm rivers and pleasant weather. Avoid the cyclone season (April–May and October).
Wildlife
Seeing a Royal Bengal Tiger is rare. You will almost certainly see spotted deer, rhesus macaques, kingfishers and saltwater crocodiles.
