First-timer's guide to Sajek Valley
By Admin · 19 Sep 2026 · 1 min read
Sajek Valley sits on the border of Rangamati, about 1,800 feet above sea level. It's famous for one thing above all: waking up above the clouds.
When to go
The best months are June to November, when the monsoon brings the clouds that make Sajek magical. Winter (December to February) is clear and cool, perfect for views of the Mizoram hills.
Getting there
- Take an overnight bus from Dhaka to Khagrachari.
- Hire a chander gari (open jeep) from Khagrachari — the ride takes about 3 hours.
- Army escorts leave at fixed times (usually 10:00 and 15:00), so plan your arrival.
What to pack
- A light jacket, even in summer — mornings are cold
- Cash: there are no ATMs in Sajek
- A power bank; electricity comes from solar in many cottages
Tip: wake up before 5:30 and hike to Konglak Hill for the best sunrise.
